Two weeks of guys named Michael – learn more about Michael Henry, audio manager for Champions Online!
Music can completely color or change the feeling behind visual images. Try thinking of the shower scene from Psycho with the Bernard Herrmann music score replaced with some goofy, light-hearted Danny Elfman-esque music. The frightening terror of the scene would vanish, and the scene would be perceived with a whole new meaning.

Learn more about Michael McCarry, one of the programmers working on Champions Online!
My primary role is to work on the powers and advancement systems for Champions Online. What this means is that I implement all the features and equations for how certain powers affect players, as well as making it possible for the designers to use these features to make our game.

Today we get answers to a few questions from Nellie "Domesticon" Hughes, one of the content designers for Champions Online:
Q: What aspect of Champions Online are you most excited about?
A: I'm really into the gameplay. I'm a huge fan of being able to pick up and play a game and do well without having to read and learn a lot of crazy button combos, like many of the other games out there.

Learn more about Zeke Sparkes, the lead content designer for Champions Online:
I lead a team of awesome designers that are tasked with planning and implementing the persistent and instanced content for the game. That includes designing big outdoor zones, smaller interior game maps, critter AI and behaviors, scripting missions, populating maps with spawns and hooking up events.

Today we learn a little more about Imario Susilo, one of the concept artists working on Champions Online:
As a concept artist it is my job to create the characters that will appear in Champions Online. I do some work on props and equipment too. I work closely with Art Development Director Shayne Herrera to follow the artistic vision for Champions Online, and with the character artists to ensure that my concepts aren't too complicated to re-create in the game.

Today we get to learn a little more about Geoff "Heretic" Tuffli, combat systems designer for Champions Online:
The combat systems team is responsible for most aspects of player character development as well as the vast majority of abilities, effects or powers that affect any character or critter in the game. We are responsible for the moment-to-moment gameplay feel of the game.

Today we get to talk with John Layman, the writer of Champions Online:

Our series of Q&As with members of the team creating Champions Online continues with Shayne Herrera, art development director for Cryptic Studios.
As the art development director I oversee all of the art that is created at Cryptic Studios, whether it is for our web sites or the entire Champions Online universe. I am lucky enough to work with the most talented art team in the business. And with their skill and talent, we are creating amazing new worlds with interesting characters.

In the third in our series of Q&As with the team creating Champions Online we get a few answers from lead programmer Charlie Grisafi.
One of the great things about Cryptic Studios is the large team of very talented and motivated software engineers that are working here. In this environment, the main role of the lead programmer is to make sure that all of these talented people are working on the right things at the right times, so that it all comes together into an efficient, well-integrated system.

This is the second of a series of Q&As with members of the team creating Champions Online. Today we get a few answers from producer Chris Lena:
I like to think of a producer as the scaffolding for the team. With the help of the associate producers, we do our best to make sure everything gets done on time and with a high degree of quality. This can span from scheduling to making sure all the artists have sharp pencils. "Does everyone know what is going on and do they have the tools to do their part?" is the most important question of every day.
